Installation Guide

System Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• Windows 7 SP1 or later
• Administrator privileges
• 100 MB free disk space

Recommended

• Windows 10/11
• SSD for faster file operations
• System Restore enabled (for safety features)

Installation Steps

1. Download the latest release from our Releases Page
2. Choose either:
   • NeatShift.exe (single file, larger size)
   • NeatShift-Release.zip (compressed package)

Running NeatShift

When running NeatShift for the first time, you might see a Windows SmartScreen warning. This is normal for new applications without an expensive code signing certificate. Here's how to proceed:

1. When you see the SmartScreen warning:

2. Click "More info"

3. Click "Run anyway"

   • This is safe because NeatShift is open source
   • All our releases are signed using Sigstore for authenticity
   • You can verify the signature using instructions in our Security & Verification guide

Verifying Installation

After installation:

1. The application should start automatically
2. You'll see the modern Windows 11-style interface
3. No additional setup is needed

If you encounter any issues:

1. Ensure you have administrator privileges
2. Check our FAQ for common issues
3. Visit our Issues page for known problems
4. Create a new issue if you need help
