[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Chore / dependency tooling update.
## What is the current behavior?
The repo is pinned to pnpm 10.24.0. Closes
https://linear.app/supabase/issue/FE-3673/migrate-the-repo-to-use-pnpm-v11.
## What is the new behavior?
The repo is pinned to pnpm 11.13.1, pnpm v11 workspace settings are
migrated to `allowBuilds`, and the Studio Dockerfile installs pnpm
11.13.1.
## Additional context
Validated with `CI=true mise exec node@22 -- pnpm install
--frozen-lockfile`, `mise exec node@22 -- pnpm run typecheck`, and `mise
exec node@22 -- pnpm run lint`; full Prettier check still fails on
existing generated docs/router files outside this migration.

## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Chores**
* Updated tooling requirements (pnpm **11.13.1**, Node **>=22.13**) and
aligned container build tooling accordingly.
* Adjusted package manager behavior (scoped registry override, update
notifications disabled) and workspace build/engine validation settings.
* **Maintenance**
* Updated `clean` scripts across apps/packages to remove only
build/cache artifacts (no longer delete installed dependencies).
* Reduced Turbo `clean` task output to **errors-only** for cleaner logs.

Upgrades the monorepo to TypeScript 7.0.2, released 2026-07-08. `tsc` is
now the native Go compiler
([announcement](https://devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/announcing-typescript-7-0/))
— full turbo typecheck drops from ~56s to ~19s locally.
TS 7.0 ships **without a programmatic API** (it lands in 7.1), so this
uses Microsoft's recommended side-by-side setup: the `typescript` name
resolves to `@typescript/typescript6` (the 6.0 API republished) for API
consumers — typescript-eslint and Next.js build typechecking — while
`@typescript/native` (the real `typescript@7.0.2`) owns the `tsc` bin
that typecheck scripts run. Exactly one version of each is in the
lockfile; nothing imports the native package as a library. When 7.1 +
tool support lands we can collapse back to a single `typescript` dep in
the catalog.
**Changed:**
- `pnpm-workspace.yaml`: catalog aliases for `typescript` /
`@typescript/native`
- 17 package.json files: `@typescript/native` added beside each
`typescript` dep so every package's `tsc` is the native binary
- `apps/studio/tsconfig.json`: exclude `dist/` (gitignored build output)
from typechecking
**Fixed** (real type errors TS 6 under-reported):
- `packages/ui-patterns` CodeBlock: `borderLeft: null` → `undefined`
(`CSSProperties` doesn't accept null)
- `apps/www` CodeBlock: removed a JSX `@ts-ignore` comment that tsgo
doesn't honor and fixed what it masked (untyped `.js` theme objects,
possibly-undefined highlighter children)
⚠️ **Merge timing:** the new packages are inside pnpm's 3-day
`minimumReleaseAge` window until ~July 11. Installs from the committed
lockfile are unaffected (resolution is skipped), but anything that
forces a re-resolution before then will fail — hold off merging until
the window passes.
Note for editors: the compat package has no `lib/tsserver.js`, so VS
Code's "Use Workspace Version" won't work — use the bundled TS or the
TypeScript Native Preview extension.
## To test
- `pnpm install && pnpm typecheck` — all 15 tasks green, and
`./node_modules/.bin/tsc --version` prints 7.0.2
- `pnpm lint --filter=studio` — typescript-eslint still parses (resolves
the 6.0 API)
- `pnpm build --filter=design-system` (or any Next app) — Next's
tsconfig validation and build typecheck still work
- CodeBlock rendering on www (syntax highlighting, line highlights
with/without border) — the two fixes are behavior-neutral but worth an
eyeball

YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Chore / dependency cleanup.
## What is the current behavior?
`apps/docs` and `apps/design-system` use the `concurrently` package to
run their parallel dev scripts, while the rest of the monorepo (e.g.
`packages/pg-meta`) already relies on `npm-run-all`.
## What is the new behavior?
Both apps now use `npm-run-all` (`run-p`), and `concurrently` is dropped
from their dependencies and the lockfile; `apps/docs` keeps its
kill-on-exit behavior via `run-p --race`, and `apps/design-system`'s
`dev:full` is collapsed into `dev` using the `run-p dev:*` glob (with
`dev:next`/`dev:content` sub-tasks and README updated to match).

## What is the current behavior?
`@supabase/server` has no reference documentation page in the Supabase
docs. The library publishes a TypeDoc spec to GitHub Pages but the docs
pipeline was not wired up to consume it.
## What is the new behavior?
- Adds `spec/reference/server/v1/` with a `config.json` (category order:
Middleware, Primitives, Adapters, Errors, Types) and `partials/` for the
introduction and installing pages.
- Adds a `download.server.v1` Makefile target that fetches
`https://supabase.github.io/server/spec.json` into
`spec/reference/server/v1/server.json`, and wires it into the top-level
`download` target so it runs with the rest.
- Registers `server-v1` in `SUPPORTS_NEW_REFERENCE_PROCESS` so the build
pipeline picks up the new spec directory and generates
`content/reference/server/v1/` at build time.
- Seeds the generated `docs/ref/server/` partials (introduction and
installing) that the reference router serves.
## Additional context
The TypeDoc spec is produced by `@supabase/server`'s `docs.yml` workflow
on every push to `main`, so `make download.server.v1` will always pull
the latest published API surface. The companion PR in the server repo
([supabase/server#95](https://github.com/supabase/server/pull/95)) adds
the `@category` tags that the pipeline requires for symbols to appear in
navigation.

## Problem
Now that `docs` is the only place where we use the deprecated `ui/Tabs`,
we can move this component and the related HOC from `ui-patterns` in
`docs`
## Solution
- Move `ui/Tabs`, `ui-patterns/ComplexTabs/withQueryParams` and
`ui-patterns/ComplexTabs/withSticky` to `docs`
- Refactor `ui-patterns/ComplexTabs/withQueryParams` and
`ui-patterns/ComplexTabs/withSticky` HOCs as hooks to make them easier
to understand
- Refactor `Tabs` accordingly
No visual nor functional changes.
## How to test
On
https://docs-git-chore-refactor-docs-tabs-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/auth/passwords
(Tabs are driven by URL and the flow tabs should have sticky headers
even though there's a CSS bug already reported)
- check that by default, the first tab in each tabs is active
- change the tabs in different groups and validate it works
- refresh the page and check that previously selected tabs are active
(URL based selection)
- In a new tab, visit
https://docs-git-chore-refactor-docs-tabs-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/auth/passwords
again and check that previously selected tabs are active (LocalStorage
based selection)
Do the same on
https://docs-git-chore-refactor-docs-tabs-supabase.vercel.app/docs/guides/database/database-advisors
(This one is driven by URL but does not have sticky tab headers)
Do the same on

## What
Routes the **Dart/Flutter v2** reference through the new
reference-content pipeline (`scripts/build-reference-content.ts` +
`spec/reference/dart/v2/`), the same one JavaScript v2 already uses.
Dart v1 stays on the legacy YAML pipeline.
## How
Dart has no upstream TypeDoc dump, so this follows the reference
README's "adapt other formats as a pre-step" approach:
- **`scripts/generate-dart-reference.ts`** converts the committed legacy
spec (`spec/supabase_dart_v2.yml`) plus the shared section tree into a
TypeDoc-shaped dump at `spec/reference/dart/v2/supabase_flutter.json`
(gitignored, like every other dump). Each Dart method becomes a
`variant: 'declaration'` node tagged with `@category`/`@subcategory` and
carries the legacy function shape (description, notes, params, examples)
on a non-TypeDoc `content` field.
- **`build-reference-content.ts`** gains a small, backward-compatible
addition: it spreads a declaration's `content` straight onto the
`functions.json` entry. The renderer then shows params/examples/notes
exactly as the legacy YAML did, with no typeSpec round-trip. The field
is absent for real TypeDoc dumps, so **JavaScript output is unchanged**
(existing JS snapshot still passes).
- `dart-v2` added to `SUPPORTS_NEW_REFERENCE_PROCESS`; the v2 `specFile`
is dropped from the nav entry so the legacy generator skips it.
- Dart search ingest switched to the new-pipeline loader.
- `config.json` + hand-authored partials (intro markdown,
`initializing`, and subcategory overviews like `using-filters`,
`auth-mfa`) added under `spec/reference/dart/v2/partials/`, mirroring
the JS lib.
- The dart dump is regenerated in `codegen:references:new` and in CI; a
self-contained `dart/v2` snapshot test covers the full YAML → dump →
content path.
## Verification
- `vitest run scripts/build-reference-content.test.ts` — both JS and
Dart snapshots pass.
- 112 function sections all resolve to renderable `functions.json`
entries (104 methods + 7 subcategory overviews + `initializing`).
- `tsc --noEmit` clean for all changed files.
- Legacy generator confirmed to skip dart v2 (only `dart.v1.*`
regenerated).
> Note: the live dev server (which needs the Supabase backend) was not
run; verification was done at the data-pipeline level plus parity with
the production JS pipeline behavior.

## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **New Features**
* Added Dart v2 reference documentation sections, including Installing,
Initializing, Filters, Modifiers, Auth Admin, MFA, Passkeys, File
Buckets, Introduction, and Upgrade guidance.
* Expanded the Dart v2 reference pipeline so Dart API pages are
generated from the newer reference content flow.
* **Bug Fixes**
* Improved Dart reference rendering by preserving legacy descriptions,
notes, params, and examples in generated function entries.
* Updated Dart v2 reference search to use the new pipeline’s generated
content so results and navigation stay in sync.

Renders the MCP config component as markdown for static markdown builds.
Currently we have no special case for `<McpConfigPanel />`, so it gets
stripped out during markdown rendering. This adds a static markdown
version of this component that renders all agents/tools consecutively.
Adds a new `McpConfigPanel.md.tsx` component that reuses data structures
used by `McpConfigPanel.tsx` but renders as markdown instead of React.
Instead of building the markdown via string concatenation, we use
[supabase-community/mdast-jsx](https://github.com/supabase-community/mdast-jsx)
which allows you to author markdown using JSX (providing type safety,
better DX, maintainability). E.g.
```jsx
<code lang="json" value='{ "key": "value" }' />
```
produces:
````md
```json
{ "key": "value" }
```
````

## Summary
Since the guides UA-redirect shipped (GROWTH-811), named LLM bots
requesting `/docs/guides/*` get rewritten to the markdown handler, which
returns a 404 when no `.md` file exists. About 90K of those 404s per day
land on real pages that serve HTML 200 fine: the bot gets nothing on a
page that works.
The root cause is that the docs middleware hardcoded
`hasMarkdownVariant: true` for every guide path, so it never checked
whether a `.md` actually existed. I fixed it in two layers:
1. A build-time slug manifest makes `hasMarkdownVariant` truthful. Guide
pages with no `.md` now fall through to HTML 200 instead of a 404. This
is content-source-agnostic and future-proof: a new content source can
never silently regress to a 404.
2. A second generator pass emits real markdown for the troubleshooting
collection (the largest source, ~70% of the 404 volume), so those bots
get clean markdown rather than just HTML.
## Changes
- Add a shared `markdown-sources` module: a single source of truth for
which slugs get a `.md` (guides + troubleshooting), so the generator
output and the manifest cannot drift.
- Generate markdown for the troubleshooting collection (196 pages, TOML
frontmatter parsed via `smol-toml`), written under
`public/markdown/guides/troubleshooting/`.
- Emit a build-time slug manifest (a gitignored generated `.ts` module,
regenerated in `prebuild`, `predev`, and `pretypecheck`, mirroring the
existing `__generated__/graphql.ts` lifecycle).
- Gate the middleware's `hasMarkdownVariant` on the manifest: serve HTML
200 instead of a 404 for guide paths with no markdown variant.
This PR intentionally does not generate markdown for the ai-prompts,
YAML config, and externally-fetched (splinter) sources. The HTML
fallback covers them now; generating their markdown is follow-up work.
## Testing
Local verification (deterministic, against the real manifest and the
real negotiation function):
- Manifest invariant holds: 744 manifest slugs equal 744 generated `.md`
files.
- Generator emits 196 troubleshooting files with zero warnings,
frontmatter stripped, no leaked delimiters.
- Negotiation decision matrix, 6/6: covered slug + bot UA to markdown;
uncovered real page + bot UA to pass (HTML 200); nonexistent + bot UA to
pass; browser to HTML; covered + `.md` suffix to markdown; uncovered +
`.md` suffix to pass.
Verified on the Vercel preview deploy:
- [x] `User-Agent: ChatGPT-User` on a troubleshooting page returns `200
text/markdown` (real markdown body, frontmatter stripped).
- [x] `User-Agent: ChatGPT-User` on an uncovered real page
(`ai-tools/ai-prompts/code-format-sql`) returns `200 text/html` (was
404).
- [x] Browser request to the same uncovered page returns `200 text/html`
(unchanged for humans).
- [x] `User-Agent: ChatGPT-User` on a covered standard guide returns
`200 text/markdown` (no regression).
- [x] `User-Agent: ChatGPT-User` on a nonexistent guide URL returns
`404` (correct).
Known limitation: an explicit `.md`-suffix request on an uncovered page
still 404s by design (an explicit markdown request for a page that has
no markdown). The ~90K/day volume is plain-URL UA-based, so it is
unaffected.
Post-deploy, I will re-run the request-grain 404 reclassification in the
GROWTH-915 BQ workspace to confirm fixable guide markdown 404s drop to
near zero.

**Stack 1/6** of the TanStack Start migration (#46424), split into
reviewable, independently-mergeable PRs.
> [!IMPORTANT]
> **Next stays the default and only active framework after this PR.**
This wires up the Vite/TanStack-Start build pipeline behind the
`STUDIO_FRAMEWORK` flag, but there are no TanStack routes yet — so the
TanStack build isn't functional or tested until later PRs in the stack.
Nothing about the Next build, dev, or deploy changes behaviourally here.
## What's in this PR
- **Dispatch:** `dev`/`build`/`start` now go through
`scripts/dispatch.js`, which runs the Next variant unless
`STUDIO_FRAMEWORK=tanstack`. The original commands are preserved as
`dev:next`/`build:next`/`start:next`.
- **Build pipeline:** `vite.config.ts`, `serve.js`, `smoke-server.mjs`,
vite/tanstack deps, `turbo.jsonc`.
- **`tsconfig.json`:** `jsx: react-jsx`, `moduleResolution: Bundler`,
`target: ES2022`. Because `include` is `**/*.ts(x)`, this re-typechecks
the whole app, so the companion adaptations below land with it.
- **Shared adaptations (companions to the tsconfig change):**
`BufferSource` casts, `packages/ui` unused-`React` import removals, etc.
- **Routing/middleware plumbing:** `next.config.ts` +
`redirects.shared.ts` (redirect rules now shared with `vercel.ts`),
`proxy.ts`/`start.ts` middleware + `hosted-api-allowlist.ts`.
## Verification
Run locally off `master`: frozen install ✓, `studio` typecheck ✓, **Next
build ✓** (compiles + generates all routes), lint ratchet ✓ ("some rules
improved"), prettier ✓.

In this PR:
- The `llms.ts` script is removed from the pipeline. It was just
iterating over the sections of the SDK JSON files to generate _dummy_
text files for LLMS to consume. But with a lot of inconsistencies and
mistakes.
- There's a new script that builds markdown files from the SDK
definition files.
- The Management API now has a definition file too, it was missing
before.
- On the www project now there are redirects for the reference text
files to the new markdown files in the docs project.
- NPM scripts have received better names so that prebuild ones are
smaller and all are easier to differentiate.
The embeddings workflow started failing after #46163 with `ENOENT: ...
content/reference/javascript/v2/sections.json`. That PR routed the JS v2
search ingest through the new reference pipeline
(`loadClientLibReferenceFromNewPipeline` in
`apps/docs/scripts/search/sources/reference-doc.ts`), and updated
`predev` and `prebuild` to run both `codegen:references` and
`codegen:references:new`, but missed `preembeddings`. This chains
`codegen:references:new` into `preembeddings` so `pnpm run embeddings`
(and the `:nimbus` / `:refresh` variants that fan out to it) produces
the new pipeline output before the search ingest reads it.
# Second try of making a new better process for SDK automation
Instead of building a new pipeline. We will take the lessons learned
form round 1, plus the good design and improvement on DX quality for
drop-in file as a single step required from SDK team and produce almost
identical set of files as used right now to render using the current
pipeline.

## Problem
We want to upgrade to react 19. However some libraries aren't compatible
with it. Besides, `next-mdx-remote` is now archived and not maintained
anymore.
## Solution
The [NextJS
documentation)[https://nextjs.org/docs/15/app/guides/mdx#remote-mdx]
suggest using
[`next-mdx-remote-client`](https://github.com/ipikuka/next-mdx-remote-client)
which was a fork of `next-mdx-remote`.
- [x] migrate `apps/www` from `next-mdx-remote` to
`next-mdx-remote-client`
- [x] migrate `apps/www` from `next-mdx-remote` to
`next-mdx-remote-client`
I haven't noticed any change in the pages.
When upgrading to react 19, we'll have to use v2 of
`next-mdx-remote-client`.

This PR migrates the whole monorepo to use Tailwind v4:
- Removed `@tailwindcss/container-queries` plugin since it's included by
default in v4,
- Bump all instances of Tailwind to v4. Made minimal changes to the
shared config to remove non-supported features (`alpha` mentions),
- Migrate all apps to be compatible with v4 configs,
- Fix the `typography.css` import in 3 apps,
- Add missing rules which were included by default in v3,
- Run `pnpm dlx @tailwindcss/upgrade` on all apps, which renames a lot
of classes
- Rename all misnamed classes according to
https://tailwindcss.com/docs/upgrade-guide#renamed-utilities in all
apps.

This PR preps the monorepo for a migration to Tailwind v4:
- Bump all Tailwind dependencies and libraries to the latest possible
version, while still compatible with Tailwind 3.
- Cleans up obsolete Tailwind 3 specific options and configs.
- Cleans up unused CSS files and fixes the CSS imports.
- Migrates all `important` uses in `@apply` lines to using the `!`
prefix.
- Move `typography.css` to the `config` package and import it from the
apps.
- Migrated all occurrences of `flex-grow`, `flex-shrink`,
`overflow-clip` and `overflow-ellipsis` since they're deprecated and
will be removed in Tailwind 4.
- Make the default theme object typesafe in the `ui` package.
- Migrate all `bg-opacity`, `border-opacity`, `ring-opacity` and
`divider-opacity` to the new format where they're declared as part of
the property color.
- Bump and unify all imports of `postcss` dependency.
## Problem

Upgrade vite and vitest to their latest major versions across the
monorepo, along with related packages.
**Changed:**
- `vite` catalog: `^7.3.2` → `^8.0.8` (Rolldown replaces esbuild/Rollup)
- `vitest` catalog: `^3.2.0` → `^4.1.4`
- `@vitejs/plugin-react`: `^4.3.4` → `^6.0.1`
- `@vitest/coverage-v8`: `^3.2.0` → `^4.1.4`
- `@vitest/ui`: `^3.2.0` → `^4.1.4`
- `vite-tsconfig-paths`: `^4.3.2` / `^5.1.4` → `^6.1.1`
**Pinned to vite 7:**
- `apps/lite-studio` — `@react-router/dev` hasn't declared vite 8
support yet
- `blocks/vue` — Nuxt plugins (`vite-plugin-inspect`, `vite-dev-rpc`,
`vite-hot-client`, `vite-plugin-vue-tracer`) haven't declared vite 8
support yet
**Test fixes for vitest 4 breaking changes:**
- **`apps/studio/lib/api/snippets.utils.test.ts`** — Replaced
`vi.mock('fs/promises')` automock with an explicit factory. Vitest 4's
automocking doesn't create mock functions for getter-based exports on
Node built-ins, so `mockedFS.access.mockResolvedValue` etc. were
`undefined`.
- **`apps/studio/lib/api/self-hosted/functions/index.test.ts`** —
Changed `mockReturnValue` to `mockImplementation(function() { ... })`
for a constructor mock. Vitest 4 no longer allows `mockReturnValue` when
the mock is called with `new`.
- **`apps/studio/tests/pages/api/mcp/index.test.ts`** — Changed arrow
function to regular `function` in `mockImplementation` for
`StreamableHTTPServerTransport`. Arrow functions can't be constructors,
and vitest 4 now enforces this.
- **`packages/ui-patterns/vitest.setup.ts`** — Changed `ResizeObserver`
mock from arrow function to regular `function` for the same constructor
enforcement reason. This was crashing Radix popover rendering in jsdom.
## To test
- `pnpm test:studio` — all 226 test files should pass
- `pnpm --filter ui-patterns vitest run` — all 183 tests should pass
- `pnpm --filter www test -- --run` — all 19 tests should pass
- `pnpm --filter ui vitest run` — all tests should pass
- `pnpm --filter dev-tools vitest run` — all tests should pass
- `pnpm --filter ai-commands vitest run` — all tests should pass

## I have read the
[CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md)
file.
YES
## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Bug fix.
## What is the current behavior?
Running `make` in `apps/docs/spec` (used by the `docs-js-libs-update`
workflow) fails with:
```
ERR_PNPM_RECURSIVE_EXEC_FIRST_FAIL Command "redocly" not found
make: *** [Makefile:56: dereference.api.v1] Error 254
```
This regression was introduced in #44428, which removed `@redocly/cli`
from `packages/generator/package.json` as an "unused" dependency. It was
previously placed there because the Makefile ran `cd packages/generator
&& pnpm exec redocly` — but that directory had no logical ownership of
the dependency.
## What is the new behavior?
- `@redocly/cli` is now a devDependency of `apps/docs`, which is the
package that owns the spec generation workflow.
- The Makefile no longer `cd`s into `packages/generator` for the redocly
calls. It runs `pnpm exec redocly` directly from `apps/docs/spec`, where
the binary is now available.
- The `tsdoc:dereference` targets are unchanged and still `cd` into
`packages/generator` to run scripts defined there.
## Additional context
The `cd packages/generator` pattern for redocly was introduced in #42987
to fix a peer dependency resolution issue with `npx @redocly/cli`. The
fix was correct but placed the dependency in the wrong package. This PR
moves it to its logical home.

## I have read the CONTRIBUTING.md file.

## What kind of change does this PR introduce?
Dependency upgrade (next-mdx-remote v4 → v6)
## What is the current behavior?
The docs app uses next-mdx-remote v4.4.1 with MDX v2.
## What is the new behavior?
- Upgraded to next-mdx-remote v6.0.0 (uses MDX v3)
- Updated @mdx-js/loader and @mdx-js/react to v3
- Upgraded remark-gfm to v4 for MDX v3 compatibility
- Removed deprecated `useDynamicImport` option (now default)
- Added `blockJS: false` to preserve JS expressions in MDX content
Build compiles successfully. Testing shows the same pre-existing
prerender error on /guides/troubleshooting as on master (supabaseUrl is
required).

## Summary by CodeRabbit
* **Chores**
* Upgraded MDX and markdown tooling to major releases (MDX v3,
next-mdx-remote v6, remark-gfm v4).
* Adjusted MDX serialization to disable embedded JS handling and remove
legacy dynamic-import behavior for more consistent rendering of docs,
guides, and code examples.

## Problem
We need a local-only UI to inspect client and server telemetry events
and override flags during development without touching non-local env
behavior. This work is intended to be shared across Studio, Docs, and
WWW.
## Changes
- Introduced a shared `dev-tools` package with the Dev Telemetry Toolbar
UI, trigger, and provider.
- Wired the toolbar into Studio, Docs, and WWW app shells (local-only
gating).
- Added a local-only `devTelemetry()` opt-in with storage gating and SSE
subscription.
- Wired client PostHog events into a local listener and re-exported
types.
- Added local flag override cookie support in the UI and CODEOWNERS for
the new package.
- Added unit tests covering local/non-local behavior and flag utilities.
## Testing
Manual (local only):
- Start each app locally: `pnpm dev:studio`, `pnpm dev:docs`, `pnpm
dev:www`
- Open the app, run `devTelemetry()` in the browser console
- Click around and confirm both client and server events appear (client
will be page views only)
- Verify feature flag overrides (PostHog + ConfigCat) persist and
restore correctly
- Confirm dismissing the toolbar clears local storage and hides the
trigger
